Does not connect with email server after update.
Thunderbird ran an automatic update yesterday. Then it just stopped working. It will not connect with the Comcast email server. An error message pops up "Unable to Connect" and "The connection was refused when attempting to contact live.mozilla.messaging.com". I do not want to uninstall and reinstall out of fear of losing my emails and address book. How can Thunderbird be fixed, there is no tool in the tool bar to allow for debugging and correction of program errors.
I am using Thunderbird version 38.1.0.
Thank you.

The issue resolved itself, Thunderbird just started working. I followed the suggested thread by Christ1 and found none of that was applicable. No malware, no browser security blocks, no certificate errors. I did, however, in Thunderbird, under Tools/Options/General unclick the button for "When Thunderbird launches, show the Start Page in the message area." I do not know if that helped, Thunderbird still did not access Comcast mail for hours after that, even with multiple shutdowns and restarts.
Until the next problem......
