After latest update (firefox 40.0.2), my Latest BBC News extension has disappeared completely...
Over the years I have frequently had problems with the Latest BBC News Add-on after a Firefox update (hence my previous questions on the same topic), but after this morning's latest update I just don't know what to do. The BBC icon that was previously on the add-on bar in the lower right-hand corner of the screen has disappeared. The add-on bar is visible, and the BBC icon has not ended up somewhere else, such us on the customization menu or on the tools menu. This add-on is 'signed', and so I cannot understand why the icon is no longer present on the screen. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the add-on several times, but to no avail. Until late last night, it was working perfectly. Can someone please help me?

Just installed it to test it for you. Appears in the Addon Manager but it's dead / don't work - the 'widget' for the toolbar is missing. Might be a problem with a deprecated API that add-on developers were warned about a year ago. Considering that extension had the last review done in Nov 2013 and the last version release was on June 19, 2013, my guess is that extension was abandoned.

Where did you get the BBC News Add-on from? Have you tried to re-install?
Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;
Installed Plug-ins
Advanced SystemCare 7 Safari Plugin DLL Advanced SystemCare 7 Opera Plugin DLL
Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
Note: Edge on Win10 does not use ActiveX version but its own Flash.
Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
Then reinstall the latest version.
Flash Player Version 18.0.0.232

Note: Windows users must download the “Internet Explorer”
and “Plugin-based browsers” installers.
I downloaded the Add-on from the Firefox page. Yes, I have tried to reinstall -- several times!!

Many thanks for testing the add-on for me, the-edmeister. I'm also sure that the developer has not really looked at the extension for some time. I'm just a bit peeved that it was working perfectly up until the other day and the latest Firefox update!!
