I am currently setting up our online game's website and wiki and wanted to test the telnet links on the website. I had installed the telnet client in Windows 10 and tested the application to make sure it works. When I click the telnet link, it opens a window asking me to select the application. When I go to browse, and select: C:\Windows\System32 and go to highlight telnet.exe, it is not in the list of available files. When I type the file name manually, I get a file not found message. In the screenshot you can see the Windows Explorer window open to C:\Windows\System32 with the file telnet.exe highlighted. This indicates that Windows is able to verify that telnet.exe exists but Firefox is blind to it. How to I add this file so that Firefox can see it. Internet Explorer sees and can use telnet.exe with no difficulty. Since the image upload doesn't appear to be working, I uploaded the image to my website. The screenshot can be found at: http://astariamud.com/images/no_telnet.png.

Did you verify via the properties that this is a real .exe file?

more options

Yes, I verified in both file properties Type of file: application(.exe) as well as opening a command prompt window and doing a 'dir telnet*.* 14/04/2016 10:59 PM 136,192 telnet.exe

Did you try to sort the window by date modified?

more options

No, I figured once I typed in the open box: C:\Windows\System32\telnet.exe and it returned file not found, as seen in http://astariamud.com/images/telnet_fnf.png, it wouldn't matter how the files were sorted. They are sorted by file name alphabetically.
