Firefox and citicards.com are somehow currently incompatible, meaning I cannot access the Citi site to pay my credit card bill. What to do?

When I try to go to the Citicards site, it says "General Error" followed by "we've had a problem processing your request". This is true for Citi.com, citicards.com, and clicking links from emails. I spoke with Citibank tech folks, who tried to help, but were unable. They explained it as Firefox and Citi security features being at odds with each other (I was able to access the Citi site from Safari), and that I need to manage some kind of add-on or extension, although they couldn't figure out what needed to change.

Any help would be hugely appreciated. -H

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
