Firefox will not initiate. Error message upon attempted opening.

I have deleted it, reinstalled it, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, restarted my computer probably about 10 times and I get the SAME error message each and every time so it is nothing I am doing wrong. (I work with computers, computing systems all day every day) So my machine is an Asus running Windows 8.0 (because 8.1 got stuck on 82% downloaded and had to be killed) I run the full range of Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, etc) on my machine without issue but Firefox will NOT work. WHY???

Error message reads: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application

And there is no other option but to click "OK" and the app closes and that's that. It doesn't initiate. Ideas?
