Previous workarounds discussed in this forum to fix the problem do not help, i.e. there is no "search" icon in "Customize Menu" or blank lines or red dots. If there is currently no workaround, may I download an earlier version? Many thanks.

Hold on, let me get a fresh copy of the 56.0 installer and see what the default is. AFAIK, the search bar is not visible in new installs on 57 but can be re-added from the Customize menu but it shouldn't happen on 56. Just checked and the search bar is indeed visible out of the box. Have you gone to the Customize menu and clicked Restore Defaults to see if it'll drop it down? Not likely, but do you happen to have a userChrome.css file in use to change certain aspects of the Firefox user interface?

I tried restore defaults earlier, but to no avail. I have nouserChrome.css. However, I got an Add-On (All in 1 Search Bar) that works fine. If I may make a suggestion--I've been with FF since 2003 (version 3.xxx). Of late, your upgrades are coming too fast. Often existing add-ons and themes then become incompatible. As I said, this is a suggestion not a complaint. Cheers!

Hi Again, I did a reboot after clicking "restore default" and the search bar appears. Thanks!
