When I use the Speech keyboard shortcut on my mac (10.13.2) on the Firefox Developer edition (59) the voice does not read the selected text (expected), instead it first some UI elements and then proceeds to read the whole page including the header etc.

I rely on Speech since I'm dyslexic, and this is keeping me with Chrome whilst I would love to switch to Firefox.

Any luck with extensions like these?

If Ondoku refuses to install then download the XPI file via the right-click context menu and install the extension locally via the about:addons page (cogwheel menu).

Not really, I've gotten to know Mac's voice and switching to another voice provider is a huge step. Voice works, it just reads the wrong text for some reason...

Hi,

You will undoubtedly have checked your settings, but just in case you've missed something :

https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25639?locale=en_US

You could also contact them (scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page)

If everything else fails, you just might get used to another voice and give (one of) those extensions that cor-el mentioned a try ......
