I have been using Thunderbird for my Hotmail email and I've built it as IMAP. Deleting emails from Thunderbird deletes them from the live.mail website and the other computer I've installed Thunderbird on. Looks like it's no longer restricted to POP as it was when the "IMAP" and "POP" support articles were written. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts#w_pop and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-pop-imap-account

I think I have corrected the articles. For the future there is a Discussion link beside those and all articles. Errors and omissions can be noted there instead of posting a support topic, or you could edit the article yourself. This is a volunteer run show, so help is always welcome.
