[] I have another email  site, with alot of email messages in it;
  [] I was seeking  a Sync/DoNotSync icon, since I did NOT want to keep downloading messages,
     as it is MORE important to me (at least in this circumstance, if not always, for security reasons)
     to get the TBird Update, as a priority over downloading messages.

 [] Not finding the Sync/noSync icon, I instead tried File.OfflineModal Icon, whatever that was...;
    But that BOTH a) stopped message download (good), b) stopped the Update !!

 [] Clearly, the TBird Update, for security reasons is more critical....
     But know that some people may think downloading messages more critical.

 [] make the WorkOffline mode, allow wither case a) or b) above, not both !

 []  I had Settings to autocheck for downloads, and notifications set to sound
     In my case above, this lead to essentiall infininte sounds.. not knowing where they were comming from.
     AND  the download window just sat there spinning, but not downloading.
