I am trying to switch my active and working Thunderbird 116 for Mac from pop to imap. After entering name email and password in the "set up your existing email address" I recieve the green box message indicating "the following server settings were found". When clicking the blue "done" button at the bottom of the page i get the "unable to log in to the server" error message. The mail account continues to work properly with the pop settings. Are there any workarounds or solutions to this issue? Thanks!

You cannot change a POP account to IMAP; it's not a Thunderbird restriction, but a technical design difference between the two. Instead, set up the IMAP account on its own. And it's okay to have both side by side while doing this.

Thank you David for your reply. I was following the instructions provided here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-pop-imap-account#w_check-that-your-mail-provider-supports-imap I'll try a new account rather than those instructions. Thanks!
