I lost the menu/toolbar at top of Firefox window. No 'File', 'Bookmarks' etc. How do I restore it?

I was trying to find the Edit Options button referred to in the ADOBE READER INSTALLATIONS INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOZILLA FIREFOX, and clicked on the first toolbar listed under the Tools button I think, because I did not see what the instructions were saying to look for. The menu/toolbar is gone, so I cannot access my Bookmarks etc.

This happened

Just once or twice

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file. I have only saved to desktop once, and have forgotten how I did it. I saw a posting here and on Adobe forum that version 8 works, so I removed the version 9 that wasn't working and installed 8. It's working, but doesn't look the same. How do I save to desktop, and is it worth it?

By the way, I found out how to restore the tool bar in an article posted.
