i reloaded firefox which i have really appreciated for several years.

i have no awesome bar and no way of closing/minimising the screen, no way of finding anything and no way to type in a new web site

have you tried moving your mouse to the top of the screen to see if anything happened? Also try pressing F11 and looking at the question of another user that I think would really help - how to turn off fullscreen mode
