Why did Firefox automatically load a program called "in-box" from inbox.com?

When I opened Firefox, it automatically loaded a program called "in-box" from inbox.com. I tried to decline its functions but it loaded anyway. After removing the program with Windows 7 Control Panel and then restarting my computer, In-box still showed up on the start page. Is this program safe and secure or is it malware?

For now, I made Google the start-up page [Tools; Options] and the default search engine option (via upper right drop-down menu). Firefox is working.
