I click on a listing in craigslist, eBay, as an example and for months that word or Ad is highlighted. How do I make it so I can turn off the highlighting of a word

Hi,

You can deleting the relevant history in History (Alt + S) > Show All History > History (on the left). Search for the links/sites on the top right, select the results, right-click and Delete This Page. Alternatively you can also right-click any single entry that has craigslist or ebay and Forget About This Site. Remove a Single Site. This would also delete the cookies, cache, preferences, links etc. associated with craigslist or ebay.

To stop maintaining any history, you can deselect Remember my browsing history in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Privacy. Options > Privacy

Note:

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious if you need to keep passwords or other data from that site.
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files, but it doesn't have a lasting effect and you can create new history by revisiting the site.
