Having issues with launching firefox in full screen

I've been having issues launching Firefox in full screen. The minimize, maximize, and close buttons completely disappear but reappear when you leave full screen mode and disappear again in full screen mode. I can't restore previous sessions, open bookmarks, customize my firefox, and so forth. I have to close and relaunch in order for things to work again. Everything works fine if I remember to close out of full screen when I close my session but this only happens when I close in full screen mode. Before this last update it would give me a "Oops" message and would let me restore my previous session. This started happening a few updates ago and I had hoped with every update since it would work out but still having issues. Any help would be appreciated.

When you are in Full Screen mode, hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear. You can use one of these to leave Full Screen mode:

  • click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave Full Screen mode
  • click the Full Screen button in the "3-bar" menu button drop-down list
  • right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode"
  • press the F11 key

Don't you see these buttons at the right end of the Tab bar or the Navigation Toolbar?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks for your input.

My issue is not that I am stuck in full screen mode as I keep the button on the title bar and I am aware of the f11 function. The issue is that I have to restart firefox if I close in full screen because everything stops working and I lose my previous session.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to check in safe mode as it would return me to my previous session before I opened in safe mode.

I did a clean reinstall and tested it as I customized it to my preference. It is not the apps or the theme. I've narrowed it down to the startup page. It works fine if I leave it on the homepage but messes up once I try starting up in about:blank and about:newtab. I guess it's a solution but it's still mildly inconveniencing.

You can set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thank you for your response.

This helped with my previous session issue.
