Thousands of "Completed" Events have been re-instated - this is crazy - I do not have weeks to re-complete them. How can I fix this problem QUICKLY ??

Thousands of "Completed" Events have been re-instated - this is crazy - I do not have weeks to re-complete them. How can I fix this problem QUICKLY ??

Chosen solution

I solved this problem by deleting (via "All Occurrences" and re-entering all 29 reminder notes from scratch - so far this seems to be working - my confidence in Thunderbird is at a very low ebb and I am looking at what other software I can replace it with ??

Thanks for the excellent support, although I am sorry, but I did not understand the last message ??

Totally agree. Another question on forum has had quite a discussion. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1321634

This is a known bug and has been given highest priority to get fixed. The fix is currently being tested and if all goes well is expected to be released in 78.8.0 which is currently scheduled for 23 Feb. Bug report if interested in reading: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1686466

Please note what we have discovered:

There is a way to set all as completed but only via the first creation of the Task. This would at least fix the display of completed tasks and declutter the screen.

First make a note of % completed tasks with notes etc and Create a new Task(s) for the current tasks with the information that does not repeat. eg: In progress 50% completed. Please note I'm only suggesting this as temporary workaround.

Select/double click to open the original Task > edit all occurances - manually set Status as completed on today date 100% complete. Suggest you may want to set an end date for the repeat. SAve and close. REstart Thunderbird - all occurances still set as completed.

So manually editing the original Task in it's own window for all occurances does work as expected.

Basically, create a new none repeating task for any current task that has not been completed. So you still know what teaks need to be done. Then use the original task to set all those repeating tasks as completed.

Sorry, it's a workaround, but let's hope the fix will sort things out soon.

This problem is much, much worse since applying the update. I tried "Completing" all of the old notes, but (a) they still come back and (b) they take so much computer power that I now look at 5 to 10 minutes response times versus seconds previously. I have to turn notes OFF - so I ahev two questions:

1) Is there are good alternative to Notes ??

2) If not, what should I replace Thunderbird with ??

Please help - this has already taken a few days and achieved nothing at all PLUS Thunderbird was crashing 1 to 3 times per day even before this problem came up ?????

Is this an addon? Is that addon up to date? Uninstall addons that are not up to date. This is XNotes++ https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/xnotepp/
