I recently enabled 2FA on my Outlook.com account and was provided with two app password's, one for my android and another for Thunderbird on Windows 10. Thunderbird keeps asking me for the password every time I open Thunderbird. Do I need to change the server settings authentication method from 'normal password' to one of the other settings. I don't experience this problem with my android device, just with Thunderbird on Windows 10.

The authentication should be 'normal password', but enter your app password for TB. When the password window appears, there should be a box to check to have the password stored in the password manager, so you don't have to enter it each time. Is there no checkbox?

Hello sfhowes. I already tried ticking the box to have the password stored in the password manager, but it didn't fix the problem.

If you look in Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, are there any obsolete passwords? If passwords aren't being remembered, there is a suggestion to delete 3 files from the profile (key4.db, logins.json and cert9.db), restart TB, and enter the passwords when prompted.

Note also that CCleaner can cause this if it's installed.
