can't connect with server, while 2 days ago it worked fine
- I use Strato as provider - didn't change any setting in Thunderbird and/or Strato - I've checked the settings, looks ok - Removed the password for one account, and it should ask for one by restarting but it doesn't - I disabled 2 Add-ons (Shockwave flash & Lightning), no more available - no problems reported on the Strato site

That would indicate there is a network problem, and Thunderbird doesn't even get to the point to prompt you for the password. Check your Internet connection.
