I try to import an email file with several emails, but only one email is imported from that file

Hi.

I've recently changed email host. The old email account is backed up locally on my laptop.

I've setup the new email account in Thunderbird, and I need to import the backed up files (the old emails). I've installed the ImportExport-tool add-on. When I import a file (which I know contains a lot of emails) there's only one single email being imported.

I've tried creating a folder in the "Local folders" and "import all messages from a directory" and "also from its subdirectories", but no emails are imported.

What should I do?

re :The old email account is backed up locally on my laptop.

Senario example: If you had a backed up mail account with 'Inbox' and that folder contained subfolders X, Y, Z This is what you would see in your profile mail account folder. Inbox (no extension) this is an mbox file containing emails. Inbox.msf this is an indexing file - it does not contain emails. Inbox.sbd folder - this contains the X,Y, Z mbox and .msf files.

Right click on folder in 'Local Folders' select 'ImportExporttools' > 'Import mbox file' select: 'Import one or more mbox files with it's/their subdirectory' click on ok

Navigate to backed up mail account folder. select the 'Inbox' mbox file (no extension) click on 'open'

This will import everything in 'Inbox' and also the subfolders X,Y,Z
