I took my computer in last week to get a newer version of windows installed. I had so many bookmarks on firefox that I used for work and after finding the old bookmarks data on my desktop the most recent version is from April. Is there a way to find the most recent bookmarks from this month so that I can restore them?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Hi thank you so much for the information. I looked at the folder titled old firefox data and the problem is the bookmarks folder does have information in it but the most recent update was back in April. I am not sure what I have done wrong. I have been using firefox daily and took my computer in a week ago. I asked the IT guy who worked on it and he said they do not do anything to back up our browsers. Is there anything else you can advise me to do to try to recover this information?

Restore Bookmark Backups

Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4

In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.
