For the last few of days (possibly since update) when I open Thunderbird the Inbox 'new email' appears in white font - against a white background so is invisible? - Older read email appear as normal. Also icons on the folder list disappear. To fix I change the theme to a different version - then restart Thunderbird and it runs as normal - switching back to usual theme it also works as normal? Any ideas on how to fix permanently? Running Thunerbird 78.3.1 (32bit) on Windows 10 pro

Use the Light theme instead of the Default theme. Also, go to Options > Colours and UNCHECK the "use system colours" option.
