I shut Avast down,and tried to send an email,but it failed. I doubt it is Avast,and I like it,because it occasionally finds malware on my system,while I am working. I will try rebooting the router in the morning.

Did you run Windows in safe mode after the smtp server name was corrected?

Yes,ran in safe mode w/networking,and still no luck.

Uninstalled Avast!,and installed MS Essentials and use the MS firewall. Rebooted the modem.
