After upgrading to macos Ventura 13.1 Thunderbird was damaged and moved to trash. Reinstalled Thunderbird. Now old emails are gone. How can I get them back?

This suggestion may not work, but it might. You mention Thunderbird was moved to trash, but that doesn't mean the profile was also moved to trash. You can view the folder for profiles by clicking help>moretroubleshooting information, scroll dowl to 'profiles', click 'about:profile' and see if a prior profile is still there.
