I have no idea how to recover, since it's been deleted and Thunderbird does not do backups by itself. However, if you have used Thunderbird for years, you might still have the prior version of the addressbook, abook.mab. If so, you could import that with tools>import. Otherwise, I have no suggestions. If you do have a backup, the addressbook is named abook.sqlite.
