Just upgraded from previous version to 45.2.0 and now I cannot get lightning to load. Downloading and attempting to install does not work either.

Chosen solution

Please post a screenshot of the Add-ons manager with the entry for Lightning visible. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Add-ons > Extensions.

I upgraded from the previous version of Thunderbird. My calendar no longer appeared as a tab. Tools - Options did not show Lightning. I attempted to install LIghting as an add-on. It did not install. No error messages. Just after getting your email, I received a notice to update LIghtning. I did so. Thunderbird exhibits VERY strange behavior: I had to kill it via Task Manager because I got nothing on my screen even though Task Manager showed it running. Starting it shows me the Home tab which I never use. I cannot remove it. The only way I can get any of my email folders is to right click on the folder and "open in new tab." Attempting to use "Tools-Options" does not work - absolutely nothing happens when it is selected.

=====================================================

Now - it seems to be running OK but still without LIghtning! This is very frustrating.

Just started Thunderbird, again! and now the calendar is there. I must have started it at least six times before with varying results. I have no idea what is going on. LIke I said before this upgrade has been quite frustrating.

Thank you for your help.

I do have the same problem. After upgrade of TB to 45.2.0 Lightning stopped working. It's at version 4.7. Oh, in case it matters, it's on Windows 7 64 bit.

Restarting TB multiple times as the OP wrote doesn't work for me.

Screenshot of AddOns attached.
