Hello! I've been using firefox in windows for years but since migrating to ubuntu 18.04, I've had a problem. I have firefox set to save passwords with a master password, but whenever I try to login to a page, the password-saving popup appears but then disappears when the page changes (when the login is either successful or not). If I'm quick with the mouse and confident in my password, I can save it before the popup disappears but what I liked about it before was that, since the window would stay up until I dismissed it, I could wait and see if the password worked before saving it. Any known fixes for this? This is firefox 60.0.1 for ubuntu 18.04, and I'm running noscript and adblock plus, if that matters. Thanks in advance!

Hi, NoScript is possibly the issue. Please try : Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Do you still see the Key icon on the location bar or does that disappear as well when the pop-up closes?

The key icon is still present after the popup closes, and I just realized that I can use it to bring the popup back up, which effectively solves the problem. Thank you! I tried running in safemode and that showed that abp and noscript were not causing the issue

You're welcome.

It is possible that the page is reloading or redirecting that causes Firefox to close the doorhanger.
