Using earlier versions of Thunderbird I used to be able to save emails as files with a .eml extension. I want to keep a permanent archive of certain e-mails independent of any computer or computer program. I can not find a way to do this with the current version. Can somebody tell me how to do this with Thunderbird or an add-on or an independent program?

I am not aware of any change in this functionality. I still have:

  • File|Save As on the classic menu;
  • Right-click|Save As;
  • |Save As in the Application Menu;
  • Drag and drop to the desktop or file manager.

If you have a lot to do at once, I'd recommend the ImportExportTools add-on.
