In some cases, Firefox's downloads folder may be set to your desktop. You can change the downloads folder here:

(If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to display the classic menu bar)

Tools > Options > General

If the file wasn't downloaded using Firefox, have you tried dragging it to the Recycle bin? Does Windows refuse to delete it?

The response did not help even though I followed the directions I received. I went to tools, options, and general. What do I do after I go to general? Where does the ALT key fit in?

On the General tab in Options, you can set downloads to always go to a particular folder. This is about half way down that tab. If that is set to your Desktop, you can change it to another folder, or you can have Firefox ask you every time.

Which document do you get on the desktop?

Is that an HTML document that you have saved or downloaded or something else?

My wife finally helped me to solve the problem. I needed to go to the site that provides an opportunity to change the background.
