What website?
The popup blocker only works on completely separate windows that appear in front or behind the current window and which you can move around outside the page. It does not work on changes within the page.
If the problem is ads within the page, you would need to use another method to block them. For example, there are add-ons that might help. A popular one is: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
hello jwluke, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware/malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and/or a different tool like the free version of malwarebytes.
nice try it is your page with your name in the url line
all ready have this male ware in my computer and i ran it last night all of the stuff was suppose to be fixed
What is the page you are visiting that is causing the problem, and what is the URL on the popup window?
any page i type in the url box
I see. In your other thread you wrote Your search bar will popup different web sites than the one i want to go to i have the popup blockers on but it still comes up.
Usually changes to the address bar are caused by an extension. Could you check here and disable ALL extensions, the restart Firefox and test again:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
boy you are trying hard all extensions are blocked
Could you post an example of the URL of the popup window?
Also, does your connection run directly to the internet or through a proxy? You can check/change that setting here:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "Network" mini-tab, click the "Settings" button. If this is not set to "No Proxy" give that a try. You may need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect.
If your PC was contaminated by malware, it's also possible that you might need to completely remove Firefox from your computer and install a fresh legit version. If you want to do that, make a backup of your personal settings folder. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Can you attach a screenshot?
