Today I changed my Google password, and now I can't login via Thunderbird to get email.

On startup, I am prompted with the Google login screen, which asks for my email or phone. I click Next, and get the message

   400. That’s an error.
The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.

I'm using Thunderbird 115.10.1 (64-bit) on MacOS Sonoma 14.5.

Hi. I have an email purporting to be from Microsoft telling me that I will have access problems with Thunderbird from September onwards. Something to do with authentification. Assuming it is genuine (is it?) I have no idea what to do. It gives 'instructions' which are incomprehensible to me. I dont even know why this link is to Mozilla rather than thunderbird. I don't want to loose Thunderbird's calendar or stored files let alone the ease of access I currently enjoy. I need someone kind and patient to tell this novice how to move forward in a pedantic, non-terminology way who is happy to assume I know nothing! Please help! Brian

Hi

I am having trouble finding emails with malicious attachments. I'm using one of ESET's security products which, after scans, find malicious content in the INBOX file, located locally on the device under the path %APPDATA%%RoamingThunderbirdProfiles(_Name_Of_the_profile)_Imapmail(_Name_of_mail)_INBOX(mail123). Unfortunately, the security product is unable to get rid of the dangerous file, but only gives information that something bad is in the email. When trying to find a specific email, I unfortunately run into a lot of problems. 1. the name of the email - in this case "mail123" does not exist in the thunderbird application itself. If I understand correctly, thunderbird itself chooses names for individual mails and then packs them in the INBOX file. 2. it is possible to correlate the email name from the INBOX file to the actual name(subject) of the email using other software such as MailStoreHome by importing the entire email profile (_Name_of_the_profile). 3. once the email is already correlated and found in MailStoreHome, I should be able to find the same email in Thunderbird (as I have imported the INBOX file, which is located locally, and which Thunderbird itself reads). Well, unfortunately no. Such an email in the Thunderbird mailbox (I already know the subject, content, date, etc.) does not exist.

And here comes my question. Is it possible to open the INBOX file itself and then find the unfortunate email and delete it?

I got an email from Microsoft saying my Live.com or Outlook.com email accounts won't be supported in Thunderbird UNLESS I change the settings to OAuth2 in incoming and outgoing server settings.

I even REMOVED the email account and re-added it making sure it was OAuth2.

But for my live.com & outlook.com email accounts I continually get prompts for passwords from Thunderbird. Sometimes I can't even click the RED X at the upper right to shut the prompt down. I just happens over and over until I give it what it wants.

I am tempted to shut down all Microsoft email accounts and switch to Gmail.

I have Thunderbird version 115.12.2 (64-bit) I used Windows 11 23H2 build 22631.3810 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1020.0

Any idea how to stop these prompts?

I like Thunderbird much more than any other email program I have ever used, and would like to keep it

Hi

I've been using Thunderbird for years with no issues. It's set up using IMAP and downloads emails from the web from my ISP. I have several different email account with my ISP. They are all set up to download to Thunderbird. All but one is working fine.

My primary email, however, is only downloading intermittently. It downloads all my emails on start up, then doesn't download any more unless I close Thunderbird and re-open. This is a new issue. Nothing has changed in my set up which is configured identically for all my email address (and the others are working fine).

I recently did a system recovery on one of my HP Windows 7 Pro notebooks and afterwards installed Thunderbird 115.12.2 64-bit on it as I have on another identical HP Windows 7 Pro notebook. I had exported the address books from the working notebook and when I imported them into the new system they show up under address and when I star any of the addresses contained in them Thunderbird completes the auto fill. However if I try to get the autofill to work by starting the names of the actual address books Thunderbird doesn't recognize the address books. Also, if I make a new address book and add names to it it will not be recognized with autofill. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I regularly send to the recipients of the address books. Thanks James

About 3 weeks ago, I stopped getting email from ATT in Thunderbird. I am able to go online to the ATT mail and see my email, so it is something with Thunderbird. I've looked online for other suggestions and have tried several. Between everything, I've really messed things up and not sure where to start now. Last thing I tried was to delete the certificate and now I can't seem to add a certificate. Not sure if I'm suppose to create a new one or if there is one on my computer.

This morning I found some steps on how to create one. It had me go to the End-to-End Encryption to generate a new one. I didn't see that option, so I created a new OpenPGP key (not sure why I thought that would help).

Maybe the best thing is to try and reinstall Thunderbird.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Thank you.

I have an issue when it comes to opening pdf files sent via email. The issue occurs on one of the user profiles. That particular user is unable to open pdf attachments. When the file is downloaded, the size of the file appears as 0 kb and the file cannot be opened due to an error saying the file is corrupted. When sent to a different email address the same file opens without a problem using Thunderbird or when downloaded. The issues does not happen everytime a pdf file is sent to the previously mentioned user but it occurs on the majority of pdf files. I am writing this email to inquire about any possible solutions to this problem. I am looking forward to your reply.

Hi,

I am running Thunderbird 115.10.1 (Flatpak) on Ubuntu 20.04. (no extensions except birdtray) I have 4 email addresses added to my TB, and I like to see all of them together, therefore I am using Unified Folders. When I am accessing Unified Inbox, TB is very slow and basically frozen until it loads this folder (often a pop-up appears that 'TB is not responding'). it takes between 30-60 seconds to load my emails (either on start-up, or clicking on another folder, then going back to Unified Inbox). Every other folders open almost instantly. I have to admit I have a lot of emails in the Unified Inbox (~20K), however the inbox of my main email has 18K, and accessing that folder separately is instant. So any operation, other than opening Unified Inbox, is quite snappy.

This issue persists since I upgraded to v115, even when I did an OS reinstall (also tried installing apt (v115.11.0)).

I have seen this answer: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1428374#question-reply however, nothing changed by resetting the folder.
